As a new VIB Rouge member I was not sure what to expect as I had read reviews from other members that said Sephora events rarely happened and when they did they were disappointing. The Sephora I attended for this event was in Sarasota, FL at the new UTC Sarasota Mall. This mall opened back in October so it is still in its first year.
While the event was lovely and I received several sample gifts as well as the VIB Rouge gift bag. I felt a bit like the mini-makeovers and help I received was geared too much towards getting me to make a purchase. As a VIB member I have obviously spent a significant amount of money at Sephora. So I would really like to see the event be geared towards teaching me new beauty techniques, thanking me for my continued support of their store, etc. It felt more like I was at one of those at home jewelry parties that shove overpriced products down your throat while telling you how philantrophic the company is. That was my only suggestion but the event was fun, the associates were very friendly and welcoming. I cannot wait for the next event.
I didn’t attend the event but sort of feel better since you said the mini makeover was more geared towards selling products. That is the part I was most excited for!

The mini-makeovers were set up as several different stations geared towards specific brands. So there was one for Peter Thomas Roth skin care, Tarte and Anastasia Beverly Hills. I would have liked to have been taught more beauty techniques and given advice rather than being sold the products which seemed to be there goal. One associate basically said if you buy two products from this brand we will give you something free. That is when I was like ok I am going to get what I came for and leave. I did not like that. It did seem like those “selling” associates were brought in specifically for each brand. So it wasn’t my traditional store employees peddling the products like car salesmen.

Oh I don’t like that at all!!! Clearly since we were invited to the event we are a big help to sephora and we will buy what we like. They should appreciate our business not try and coarse more.

Yea it was just surprising since they aren’t typically like that when I am regularly shopping in store. I am heading over to check your blog out now!! Thanks for stopping by mine!

During the event the PTR rep tried some of the produts on me and it was my first time so I was very impressed. I decided to buy a sample of masks to try out since I am not good at keeping up with a skincare routine.
